| << Shave and a Haircut:EXTREME >> |
Just load your surfaced model into the interface, and Shave makes a guess at how to comb it. From the moment Shave creates the hair, dynamics and rendering attributes are already created and ready to go (just hit PREVIEW). What you do from there, is up to you. And you have an amazing array of simple and intuitive tools to do whatever the heck you want. You can select/drag hair (by the ends, or vertex selections) and it will maintain its length and collide with collision spheres you've placed in the model (optional). The hairs remain rooted (constrained) to the surface, and will follow the skin at rendertime with dynamics (but that's a subject for another page). You also have tools for constraining the entire length of hair to the nearest surface. With this, you can easily drag hair into braids, ponytails, or whatever shape you can model. Combing tools let you comb hair along a surface (for fur), hair intelligently follows the surface of the skin over all its contours and bends. Once combed you can also autosize the lengths using 'attenuate hair' to scale the length according to surface detail from the skin. For instance, hair on the stomach of a dog gets longer, while his paw hair gets shorter - this is automatic. After that, you can go in and tweak and scale to your heart's content. A major advancement in the field, you actually are combing with bi-directional kinematic chains. Dynamics are so closely interwoven with the notion of a hair primative, that they are actually used in the sculpting process. Other tools like 'puff roots' and 'stand on end' let you fluff the hair as desired. Interactive displacements like 'frizz','kink', and 'clump' let you shape hair using solid fractal noise, pushing hair vertecies around at detail levels that would just be impossible to model by hand. Cut tools let you cut selected chunks out from any view, and cutmaps let you grow it back over time. Easily the most flexible hair creation and grooming environment ever created, you've GOT to try the demo. more >>>>> |
